Creative Canning With Jill Johnson

Event Description:

Whether you are a newcomer to canning, brushing up on the basics or looking for fresh ideas for your canning season, this canning workshop will offer inspiration. Food editor Jill Johnson will discuss water bath canning techniques, equipment and safety, and demonstrate every step of the process. Canning classics like applesauce will be covered, as well as more innovative recipes like dilled green beans and tomato-basil jam. Jill will demystify canning so that everyone leaves feeling confident about preserving produce tastefully and safely.



Jill Johnson is a free-lance food editor who has gained great satisfaction from canning applesauce, jam, pickles, tomatoes and salsa for the last 20 years. Besides being commissioned to write a canning article and develop canning recipes for Hy-Vee Seasons magazine, she has contributed to publications such as Midwest Living, Diabetic Living and Life:Beautiful.
